HOW BIG IS THE STUDIO? There is 2500sqft of shooting space with a 28’x 34’ white corner cyc + 34’x 35’ black cyc and a 6’x6’ overhead grid throughout. Check out our Studio Rental page for comprehensive info about the space and how to book it.
IS IT A SOUND STAGE? Technically we are not a sound stage, but we accommodate shoots running sound regularly without issue. The walls are a foot thick of poured concrete with an air gap and insulation and drywall in front of them. Feel free to book a studio tour with us anytime if you’d like more info and to see for yourself the sound environment.
IS THERE PARKING? We are located just outside the close-in SE industrial area of PDX. There is free street parking all around our building and a pay lot across the street.
WHAT KIND OF GEAR DO YOU HAVE? Cool stuff. Lots of cool stuff. What kind of gear do you have?
CAN I BRING MY OWN GEAR FOR A STUDIO RENTAL? Hells to the yeah you can. also if you want specific gear on our list we can rent it for you and have it ready on your shoot day.
DO YOU PROVIDE CATERING? We do not, but we’s be happy to make recommendations based on your needs.
DO YOU PROVIDE A STUDIO MANAGER? We do! it’s included in the flat rate for your rental.
WHAT ARE THE MEASUREMENTS OF YOUR CYC(S)? our white cyc is 32’ x 28’ x 14’8’’ tall. Our black cyc is 34’ x 35’ x 14’8’’
HOW DO I BOOK THE STUDIO/HOLD A DATE? Just reach out to info@desertislandstudiospdx.com and we’ll get back to you asap.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? commercial shoots are $1000 per day flat. that includes studio manager, grip, distro, production office, hmu trailer, cafe access, etc., you can find more info on our rentals page.
DO YOU HOST EVENTS? Not really. We have hosted fundraisers and screening events and happy hours in the past for industry specific things but we are not an event space.
IS THERE A GREEN ROOM? there is a second floor production office included with your studio rental and there is also an additional conference room that you can rent for an extra $150/day. I feel like either could be a good green room.
CAN I SEND YOU MY SCRIPT? We are always on the hunt for great narrative work. If you are a writer with a feature film script and are looking for production support etc., we will happily look at a pitch deck and read the first ten pages. Reach out via info@desertislandstudiospdx.com
CAN THE CYC BE PAINTED? Yes indeed! We can paint the white CYC whatever color you need including chroma green just get in touch regarding pricing.
DO YOU HAVE DISCOUNTED RATES FOR ARTISTS? Why, yes we do you little artist you. We offer after hours discounted rates for non commercial micro-budget projects. Please write us with some information about what you want to shoot to apply for a discounted after hours slot.
